Work Hard (Don’t be lazy)
Lessons From The Ant.
Proverbs 6:6-8 NKJV
Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.
Have you ever seen the ant in action? That little creature works fast and it has been documented that an ant can carry 10 -50 times their body weight. Ants do not rest until they get the job done.
One important lesson we need to learn from the ant is the value of hard work. Work is a blessing from God and he has placed high importance on it. The bible says that there are good works that God prepared for us in advance to do.
God himself works and he did an amazing work of creation which we can see in the book of Genesis. When he created man, the very first responsibility he gave to him was work. Adam was told to name the animals and also to take care of the garden.
Jesus also worked. He did the work that his father sent him to do and when it was all done he said it is finished.
Work is so important that Paul says in the book of
2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 NKJV
For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.
How we work and the attitude we have when we work is of importance because it displays to the world who we truly are. For this reason, the bible encourages us who believe that whatever it is that we do, we should do it as unto the Lord and not man.
God promises that He will bless the work of our hands. When we work diligently as unto him no matter where we are, he will bless us. Joseph in the Old Testament is a good example of that.
We should be wise and learn from the ant. That tiny creature needs no supervisor, it knows what needs to be done and it gets the job done.
What is your attitude towards work?
Are you a self-starter like the ant or do you constantly need to be pushed and supervised to get the job done?
What is the quality of your work, If God was to assess it, would he be pleased with it or disappointed?
Thank you for your prayers and support for this Morning Devotion Ministry. God bless you more.
