The Sign Of Disinformation

The Sign Of Disinformation
The Signs of The Time
Matthew 24:11-13 NKJV
11 And many false prophets will appear and lead many astray. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere and will cool the love of many. 13 But those enduring to the end shall be saved.

Have you ever played the telephone game? This is a game that is mainly used to demonstrate how miscommunication happens. One person whispers something to the next person who whispers what they have heard to the next until we get to the end of the line. The last person then shouts out what was whispered in their ear and mostly it is so different from what the first person in line has shared.
Just as the message is distorted in a game of broken telephone, Jesus warns us that in the last days, MANY false prophets will appear and they will lead many astray. In this generation we have many who call themselves prophets because somehow it seems a Prophet is more anointed than any other calling.
The reason why many false prophets are arising in these last days is because of what Paul told Timothy in;

2 Timothy 4:3 NKJV
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Is it not an oxymoron that we live in a generation where the word of God is so readily available like never before since creation but many are turning away from the truth and turning aside to fables?
Today we have many people who speak with authority and claim to be speaking for God but the reality is that they are false prophets. When we become lazy in reading the word and asking the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth then we become prime candidates for false prophets. The bible tells us to test all spirits and not just accept anything simply because someone declares that they are a prophet.

Acts 17:11 NKJV
11 These were more [a]fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

May we be more fair minded than the average believer today, searching the scriptures daily to counter check every message that we hear.

Reflections
How would you know if a prophesy is false?

To know the truth and not walk in it is to turn you ear from it. What are some truths you know but you have turned your ear away from?

What must you do to ensure that you do not fall for the messages of false prophets?
