The Signs of The Times
Matthew 24:6-8
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for [a]all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, [b]pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Currently, there is conflict raging in the middle east between Israel and Palestine and the whole world is focused on this conflict. Some have said that this is an indication that the end is here with us. Jesus told us that we will hear of wars and rumor’s of wars but he continues to tell us that this should not trouble us. This is because all these things must come to pass but the end is not yet.
Jesus also talks of famines and pestilences plus earthquakes in various places and he says these are the beginning of sorrows. Its like an expectant mother who goes into labor. When the pains start, it does not mean its time but its an indication that the time is near. An expectant mother to be may start to feel irregular contractions which may take hours or even days before they are in established labor.
What does this mean? It means that we must be ready, just as the mother to be would be ready with a parked bag because any time she will need to be at the hospital. The Lord has been gracious enough to reveal to us the things we need to look out for that will indicate to us that the end is near so that we should not be caught off guard.
When you think about nations rising against nations and kingdoms against kingdoms, I am reminded of the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. As we get near to the end, the kingdom of darkness is getting bolder to openly display its darkness and sadly many are toying with it. There is a raging war for the souls of men because the enemy knows that the end is near. We who know Christ and are part of the kingdom of God must be bold now more than ever before to reach out and evangelize because we know the end is near and we know what’s at stake.
