The Price of the Vision
Matthew 16:24-25
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
Every vision comes with a price and many fail to actualise the vision because they are not willing to pay the price. Paying the price demands discipline and denying self. Jesus says that if anyone desires to follow him then they must deny themselves take up their cross and follow him.
To deny yourself is to set yourself apart from the crowd. While they are sleeping or partying you are studying or running or praying depending on the demand that your vision puts on you.
To deny yourself is to put your flesh under discipline and not give it everything it demands for because your spiritual eyes have seen a destination that you must get to and so you discipline yourself. Remember without a vision the people cast off restraint, meaning they throw discipline outside the window.
The cross was a place of death and picking up your cross daily means that there are certain things that will have to die in your life if you must attain your God given vision. Abraham our father of faith had to walk away from his family, Jesus our lord and Savior Had to lower Himself to be a human and more than that to die on the cross, some things will have to die.
But even with all that, to fulfil your God given vision you must keep listening you must keep following. Prayer is of utmost importance because to follow Jesus we must be able to see where He is going, we must know his voice and we must be willing to follow.
Remember He said that apart from Him we can do nothing, so we must stay connected.
