The Mind of Christ
Romans 12:2 (AMP)
2 And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be [a]transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
Salvation is an amazing thing, not just amazing but supernatural. No wonder Nicodemus a teacher of the law would ask Jesus “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?”
Problem is, after we get born again we primarily still think like the old man. As a preacher said the other day, “God gave you a brain but it is your responsibility to educate it!” We cannot think the same way we used to think and experience the victory that Christ has availed to us.
If we are to have the mind of Christ then like a computer we have to be formatted and new operating software has to be uploaded. We cannot have the mind of Christ if we continue holding on to the values and the way of life of this world, we have to give up one to embrace the other.
Every believer has the responsibility of teaching their mind a new way of thinking which leads to a new way of life as we get insight from the word of God. Remember that in the beginning was the word and the word was God. Christ is His word and thus to know the mind of God and what He values then reading His word and implementing it in our life will get us there.
If we can think the way Jesus thought, if we can believe what Jesus believed, and If we can live the way Jesus lived, then we can be as effective as Jesus was and still is today. Remember he said that those who believe in Him and the works that He does, greater works shall they do because He goes back to the father. What we believe has to do with how we think.
Proverbs 23:7
As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.
To be like Jesus we must think like Jesus and the only way to get there is to spend time with him by reading the Bible and implementing what we read in our lives. Another preacher said it this way, “God has hidden Himself in a book called the Bible, and only those who are careful enough to study it and implement it will get to know and experience Him.”
