Marks of a disciple of Jesus: Suffering and Trials
Romans 5:3-4 NKJV
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
One of the things that is part of the life of a believer is suffering and trials but its not a thing many of us would love to hear. We have believed a gospel that is free from any kind of trials and suffering no wonder when we find ourselves in such a season, we start to question Gods love towards us.
Suffering and trials have a place and purpose in our lives. Without them then we cannot develop perseverance. That’s perseverance helps to form our character, and that character into hope. As they say at the gym, no pain no gain.
Besides the bible does encourage us in;
Romans 8:18 NKJV
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
The suffering that we are going through in this present age will reveal a glory in us that is far much more in comparison, now that is where the hope comes in.
When you have an eternal perspective as a believer and disciple of Christ then you understand the place of tribulation and suffering in the life of a believer. You know that its a temporary thing and it has a purpose.
Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulation but that should not bother us, that should not be our focus because He Jesus, has overcome the world. Despite the tribulation that we go through from time to time we are more than conquerors because greater is He who lives in us than he who lives in the world. Besides, if we remain in him then we are assured of the outcome because we always come out winners!
