Loving God with all my MIND
Luke 10:27 NKJV
So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.
What’s on your mind?
I am sure you have asked or been asked that question at one time or another. The thing about the mind is that unless you tell us, we have no way of knowing what you are thinking about. Unlike loving the Lord your God with all your strength which is so visible, to love him with our minds is a private affair even though it will leak out and manifest at one time.
As much as others may not be able to know what’s on your mind, God does. The Bible says the Lord searches the heart and tests the mind to give each man according to his ways (Jeremiah 17:10) God knows those who are loving him with all their minds, he knows those whose minds are stayed on him and he keeps them in perfect peace.
We make decisions in our mind based on the convictions we have from the information we have received. To love the Lord with all our minds is first of all to fill our minds with information about the Lord because to love him we have to know him. Remember he told Joshua that this book of the law should not depart from his mouth but that he should meditate on it day and night so that he may be careful to do all that is written in it and then he will make his way prosperous and with good success.
Before he could meditate on this word Joshua had to fill his mind with it and then meditate on it which in turn would determine what came out of his mouth and the actions he took.
To love the Lord with all our minds is to have our thoughts dwelling on him, it is to think about things above and not things below. Our minds must have an eternal perspective if we are to love God with all our minds. Remember that as a man thinketh so is he meaning if we allow our mind to dwell on God and to do as he says then we will become more like him.
Remember the word of Paul to the Philippian church?
Philippians 4:8 AMP
8 Finally, [a]believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
So, what’s on your mind?
What are the things you mostly think about?
When we fill our minds with worry, what do you think God feels about it?
What must you begin to do to grow in loving God with all your mind?
