Give Him First Place

If you love Jesus you will give Him first place in your life.

Mark 10:17-27 (NASB)
17 As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments, ‘DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, Do not defraud, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.’” 20 And he said to Him, “Teacher, I have kept all these things from my youth up.”21 Looking at him, Jesus felt a love for him and said to him, “One thing you lack: go and sell all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 22 But at these words [a]he was saddened, and he went away grieving, for he was one who owned much property.

The rich young ruler had everything going for him or so it seemed. He comes to Jesus seeking how he may gain eternal life. I find it impressive that when it came to keeping the law, the guy had his act together when he said that he had kept these since his youth, Jesus did not dispute it. The only problem he had was that he loved his wealth more than he loved Jesus because it saddened him when he was told to sell everything and give the money to the poor.
Jesus made some pretty heavy statements when it came to who was fit to be His disciple.

Matthew 10:37-39 (NKJV)
37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

To say that you love Jesus means that He comes first in your life. Everything is coming after Him. It means that in all you do then you have to put Jesus and what He stands for as priority even if it means walking away from Family or a job or a community. Men like Daniel in the bible were willing to lay down their lives because they would not allow anything to come in between their relationship with God. It is usually when we are faced with a life threatening issue or a situation that has the potential to inflict pain and suffering in our life, then we know if we truly love Jesus.

Take Out;
Jesus and what He stands for should always take the first priority in our life if we truly love him.
Remember;
Love the lord your God with all your heart mind and soul.
