Delight and Meditate
Delight and Meditate
Two ways of Life
Psalms 1:2 NKJV
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
The blessed righteous man delights in the law of the Lord. To delight in something is to have a longing for it, meaning you take whatever opportunity you get to indulge in this thing. To delight in something is to derive good pleasure in it. This then means that this man finds joy in the law of the Lord. This law of the Lord is the word of God in its entirety.
This man meditates on the word of the Lord day and night. To meditate on something is to think about it, reflect on it, imagine it and speak about it. In essence, this man is consumed by the word of God. He does not take it casually.
Remember when Joshua took over from Moses, God tells him to meditate on the law day and night.
The Bible says that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. It also says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
The man who meditates on the word day and night then becomes like the word, meaning they become like Jesus because Jesus is the word of God. Their speech will also be full of the word because their heart is filled with the word because they think about it day and night.
It is said that our thoughts become our words, our words become our actions, our actions become our habits, our habits form. our character and our character directs our destiny.
We cannot do the word if we are not thinking about it.
Reflections.
