One of the things I dreaded in school is when the maths teacher would casually walk into class tell us to put away all our books and announce that we were going to have a CAT (continuous assessment test) Most of the time he caught us unprepared and off guard. Well today seems like one of those days because I want to give you CAT!
You don’t have to write down anything, just see if you can answer these questions mentally.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five top students in the KCPE?
3. Name the last five winners of Miss Kenya.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
How did you do? Were you able to get all of them right?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Here’s another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. List five people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
Was that much easier? The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities,
Many in this day and age want to make it big. We want to be famous, have a big house, drive a big car, be the best at what we do but if we were to be honest with ourselves, for many we want all this things for ourselves so that we can say we have it all and God has been good to us. We want to live a mark in the world because of what we have.
One of the things that i have realized is that the best way to live a mark in this world is to leave a mark on someone’s life. All of us can remember the people who were there for us when we most needed help. We can remember the people who took us in when the rest of the world had rejected us. We never forget the person who believed and invested in us when the rest of the world thought we were good for nothing. We do not forget those who stand with us when we are grieving the death of a loved one.
As you go through life, what kind of mark are you leaving behind?
Lets us spur one another to love and good works, that’s how you leave your mark on this world….through people you inspire, motivate, teach, help and believe in!
Practical Application
Make sure you spur up somebody to good works today!
