Zechariah 13:9

Then I will purify them and put them to the test, just as gold and silver are purified and tested. They will pray in my name, and I will answer them. I will say, “You are my people,” and they will reply, “You, LORD, are our God!”

The work of purification for gold and silver requires a lot of heat. In order to separate the precious metal from the ore the metals have to be taken through a process called “purification by fire!” Through this process all the impurities are separated from the precious metal. If the impurities are left in the metal, then they cheapen its value. The refiner has to sit close by the fire all his attention focused on the metal to ensure that it is not overtaken by the flames.

The same applies to us. God says that He will purify us and put us to the test. That means that we will go through the fire. Many of us see going through the fire as a negative because we think it means that God is not happy with us and He has abandoned us. The truth of the matter is that it’s the exact opposite. He takes us through the fire because he loves us and just like the purifier who sits close by the fire watching so that the metal is not overwhelmed, God is right there with you to ensure that the fire does not overwhelm you.

You and I have to realize that the impurities in our life cheapen us. The God who created us knows our true value and He loves us too much to leave us in the condition He found us.

Do you find yourself right in the midst of the fire? You are in the right place because it means you are in the hands of the master. Allow him to purify you, go though the whole process and when He is done with you, you will come out shining.

Practical Application

If you are going through the fire stay put and allow Him to take you through the process.

Very encouraging words. “You and I have to realize that the impurities in our life cheapen us.” This has to be intentional, letting God purify me. God bless you
